Kcell has Launched Pilot LTE Zones
Almaty, February 29, 2016. "Kcell" Joint-Stock Company (hereinafter - "Kcell" or the "Company”) (LSE, KASE: KCEL), the leading operator in the telecommunications market of Kazakhstan in terms of revenue and subscriber base, announces the launch of pilot LTE standard mobile zones in 4 cities of Astana, Almaty, Shymkent and Aktobe.
LTE pilot zones of "Kcell" Company are located inside "MEGA Alma-Ata", "MEGA Astana", "Mega Planet Shymkent" and "MEGA Aktobe" shopping malls, as well as “Dostyk Plaza” in Almaty. Company's subscribers can enable LTE on their smartphones while in these centers, and they can get advice on the new technology at Kcell Stores that can be found in these shopping malls.
- Today we are pleased to open LTE pilot zones for our customers, in order to give them opportunity to be introduced to the new technology, to test it and to compare its advantages with the 3G network. We placed our test areas in shopping centers that are very popular among the residents of these cities for recreation, shopping and entertainment. This will enable us to gather a lot of feedback from our customers about user-friendliness of LTE mobile internet, and to make a large-scale launch of LTE in our network with the highest possible quality - said Artie Ots, CEO of "Kcell" JSC.
In the LTE mode company subscribers can connect to any Internet resources by using previously enabled Internet services and rate schedules. Thus, charging for the mobile Internet will take place in the standard mode for the subscriber. To enable LTE the company recommends its subscribers to check for the support of this technology by their SIM-cards. To do that all they need to do is dial *256# USSD command. The reply will come with the information whether or not subscriber’s SIM-card support this technology.
As the official distributor of iPhone smartphones in Kazakhstan, "Kcell" company is already in the process of obtaining all the necessary certification from Apple Corporation. This will ensure free and convenient use of smartphones by company subscribers by the time of LTE large-scale launch.
By the end of March "Kcell" plans to open LTE pilot zones in more than 40 shopping malls, business centers and popular fitness centers in 12 cities of Kazakhstan, including Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktobe, Aktau, Atyrau, Kokshetau, Kostanay, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk and Semey.
