About Internet and LTE

Switching to partner’s network manually:

  1. Settings – Connections* – Mobile networks – select dual network mode g. LTE/3G/2G.
  2. Use the manual network selection mode to select network (if necessary,try again). If connection is lost, repeat the above steps.

 

If you want to use Internet while roaming:

  1. Check out Roaming tariffs and Campaigns before going abroad.
  1. Set “Internet” in  APN field in your Settings and enable mobile data:
  • Settings – Connections* – Mobile networks – APN – New APN (name: internet, APN: internet, APN type: default)
  • Settings – Connections* – Mobile networks – Data roaming – enable.

  

  1. Turn off automatic applications updates in order to prevent unnecessary data usage.
  • Play Market – open the popup menu (in the upper left corner of the screen) – Settings – select Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only.

 

LTE in roaming

1. Turn on Roaming service. Service can only be activated while in Kazakhstan.
2. Find out if there is 4G/LTE coverage in the country you are planning to visit.
3. To check if your SIM supports 4G/LTE, dial *256# (Not all roaming partners support USSD. The reasons for your being unable to use USSD while roaming may also be either an outdated SIM card or temporary technical malfunctions. We, therefore, recommend that you dial *256 # while in Kazakhstan, before going abroad)
4. Select manually LTE/3G/2G or 4G/LTE in your phone settings.

We also suggest:

    • disabling automatic applications updates (iTunes Store, App Store or Play Market), Wi-Fi Assist, automatic downloads of video, audio and images in application settings (WhatsApp, Viber, etc.)
    • to learn more about our services and data packages that best suit your data roaming needs.
    • to make sure you have sufficient account balance as you may not be able to top up your phone while abroad.
    • monitor your data usage by using the Data Usage features in your phone.

If you are not going to use 4G/LTE when roaming or there is no 4G/LTE coverage in your country of destination, you need to select 3G/2G or 2G in your phone settings.

 

If you do not want to use Internet or want to connect via Wi-Fi while roaming:

      1. Settings – Connections or Data usage* – Mobile data - switch off
      2. Settings – Connections* – Mobile networks – Data roaming -switch off

 

*Menus and options may vary depending on phone model.

Important!

Disable automatic download of video, audio, photo in WhatsApp, Viber and etc.

Switching to partner’s network manually:

  1. In the manual network selection mode: Settings – Carrier – Automatic – select the operator (if necessary, try again).
  2. If you fail to connect to the network, disable 4G: Settings – Cellular – CellularData Options – Voice/Data – 2G/3G, restart your phone and try manual network selection again (if necessary, repeat these steps several times).

 

If you want to use Internet while roaming:

  1. Check out Roaming tariffs and Campaigns before going abroad.
  2. Set “Internet” in  APN field in your Settings and enable mobile data:
  • Settings – Cellular – Cellular Data Options – Cellular data network. (APN: internet)
  • Settings – Cellular – Cellular data – enable – Cellular Data Options - Data roaming – enable.

  • Settings – iTunes Store App Store – Automatic downloads (switch off all) and switch off below updates over cellular data “use cellular data”.
