To improve contrast when viewing the display at right angles, we've introduced an advanced process called photo alignment. UV light creates an even surface behind the film coating on the thin film transistor (TFT) and light filter, so the liquid crystal molecules of the display are in the right position. The alignment of the molecules enhances the contrast of whatever image you're looking at. The resolution and size of the iPad Pro is much larger than other iOS devices. So we took the innovative TPT used in the iMac with Retina 5K display and adapted it for the Retina display on the iPad Pro. The result is a faster transfer of charge to the pixels and a more even illumination of the screen. The iPad Pro is the first device to recognize static content, halving the screen refresh rate from 60 to 30 times per second. So not only is this display big, bright and beautiful, it's also very affordable. At the heart of iPad Pro is a third-generation A9X processor with desktop-class 64-bit architecture. Performance is 1.8 times faster and graphics are twice as fast as on the iPad Air 2. Despite its impressive screen size, the iPad Pro is surprisingly thin and light: it's just 6.9mm thick and weighs 713g. And thanks to its solid unibody design, it remains extremely secure. With four Hi-Fi speakers built into the enclosure, iPad Pro delivers a live sound experience that's three times the acoustic potential of iPad Air. The incredible sound is as impressive as the large display. iPad Pro automatically adjusts its high-frequency directivity based on how you hold it. iPad Pro supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO technology, so you can easily connect to networks with download speeds of up to 866 Mbps. The Smart Connector is a new interface element that uses the conductive material of the Smart Keyboard to transmit signals in both directions. It powers the Smart Keyboard from iPad Pro and sends the impulse from the keys back to iPad Pro.
